Teen Girl Kills Adoptive Mother in Odisha with Help from Boyfriends
A 14-year-old girl in Odisha allegedly murdered her adoptive mother with the help of two boyfriends after being opposed in her relationships.
In a shocking and heartbreaking case, a 14-year-old girl studying in Class 8 has been accused of murdering her 54-year-old adoptive mother, Rajalaxmi Kar, with the help of two men.
Rajalaxmi had adopted the girl when she was just three days old. She and her husband had found the baby abandoned on the roadside in Bhubaneswar. The couple had no children of their own. Sadly, Rajalaxmi’s husband passed away one year after the adoption.
After his death, Rajalaxmi shifted to Paralakhemundi in Gajapati district, where she rented a house so that her daughter could study at Kendriya Vidyalaya.
As the girl grew older, she got into a relationship with two men — Ganesh Rath (21), a temple priest, and Dinesh Sahu (20). Rajalaxmi strongly opposed these relationships.
The Murder Plan
On 29th April 2025, the girl allegedly gave her mother sleeping pills. After Rajalaxmi became unconscious, the girl called Rath and Sahu to the house. Together, they smothered (suffocated) her to death using a pillow.
Later, they took the body to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her dead. At first, the girl told relatives that her mother had died due to heart problems. Since Rajalaxmi had a heart condition, the family believed her.
But around a month later, Rajalaxmi’s brother found suspicious messages on the girl’s phone. He filed a complaint at the Paralakhemundi police station.
What Police Found
During investigation, the police found shocking proof — messages between the girl and the two men discussing the murder. The chats also talked about using two pillows to commit the crime. Police also found that over 70 grams of gold jewelry and ?60,000 in cash were missing.
It was also found that the girl had earlier given some of her mother’s jewelry to Rath. He had pawned (girvi rakh diya) the gold and got around ?2.4 lakh, which he used to buy a bike.
According to police, Rath had manipulated the girl, saying that after the murder they could be together and get her mother's property.
All three accused have been arrested, and further investigation is going on.
