Terrorists Kill 5 CRPF Jawans in J&K

5 CRPF jawans posted at the Anantnag district in Jammu Kashmir were killed in a terrorist attack. The Jaish-e-muhammad have taken responsibility for these attacks.

Yesterday on 12th June, a team of CRPF personnel and the J&K state police were deployed for picket duty in  South Kashmir’s Anantnag district. They were checking vehicles at a barricade posted near a school. Two terrorists sitting on a motorcycle open fired at the CRPF jawans and the police. The CRPF and the state police fired back. 5 CRPF jawans were killed. 3 CRPF, 1 policeman and one woman were injured in the firing. They were taken to the District hospital in Anantnag.

The terrorist group Al Umar Mujahideen has taken responsibility for the attack. However the police belive, it was the Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) who carried out the attack.

In the gunfight, one terrorist was killed and the other escaped. The materials recovered from the dead terrorist proved that it was the JeM who were responsible. They even found an AK-47 rifle from him.

Inspector General Ravideep Sahi of the CRPF said that this was the first attack on the CRPF after the Pulwama attack. The Amarnath Yatra will begin on 1st July and end on 15th August. In this Yatra pilgrims travel to the cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas. Pilgrims travelling to the cave shrine have to pass through the same road where Wednesday's attack took place. In July 2017  terrorists opened fired at the Amarnath pilgrims who were inside a bus. The terrorists belonged to the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).  Eight of the pilgrims were killed.
