The Mom Who Flies 700 km Every Day And Still Saves Money!

A Malaysian mother flies 700 km daily to work, saving money and spending every night with her children.

Racheal Kaur, an Indian-origin working mother from Penang, Malaysia, has found an unusual way to balance work, money, and family. She works as an Assistant Finance Manager at AirAsia in Kuala Lumpur, nearly 350 km from her home. Earlier, she stayed in a rented flat near her office, paying about ?42,000 a month, but could only see her children on weekends.

One day, she realised that if she moved back to Penang and gave up the rented flat, she could use the money saved to pay for daily flights to work. Her monthly flight cost is around ?27,000, saving her ?15,000 each month. More importantly, she gets to be with her children every night.

Her day starts at 4 AM, with a 6:30 AM flight to Kuala Lumpur, and she returns home by 8 PM after work. She follows this routine five days a week, keeping weekends only for family. For Racheal, the flights have become her peaceful “me-time,” giving her space to relax before and after work.

AirAsia admires her dedication, and her story has inspired many. While most people complain about traffic jams, Racheal flies 700 km daily to be a present mother without sacrificing her career.
