Thief Gets Stuck in Exhaust Fan During Burglary Attempt in Kota

A thief in Kota got stuck while trying to enter a house through a kitchen exhaust fan. The incident went viral online, with many calling it “instant karma.”

A strange and humorous incident took place in Kota, in the Pratap Nagar area of Rajasthan, and quickly caught the attention of people online. On 3 January 2026, house owner Subhash Kumar Rawat and his wife had gone on a trip to the Khatu Shyam Temple in the Sikar district of Rajasthan. The temple is a well-known pilgrimage site, and the couple had locked their house before leaving.

Late at night, while the house was empty, a thief entered the property with the intention of stealing valuables. Instead of breaking a door or window, the man chose an unusual method. He tried to squeeze into the house through a small kitchen exhaust fan opening. However, his plan failed badly. The thief got completely stuck, with half of his body inside the kitchen and the rest hanging outside. He was unable to move or free himself.

When the couple returned home around 1 am, they noticed a light on inside the kitchen. This confused them, as they were sure they had switched everything off before leaving. As they looked closer, they were shocked to see a man trapped in the exhaust fan hole.

Soon, neighbours gathered outside the house. Someone recorded a video of the trapped thief, showing him helplessly stuck. The video quickly went viral on social media. Many users laughed at the situation and called it “instant karma,” meaning someone faced immediate consequences for doing something wrong.

The police were informed and reached the spot. After some effort, they rescued the man and arrested him. His accomplice managed to escape. Police are now investigating the case, while the internet continues to enjoy this very unusual burglary.
