Tiger Found Dead In Kaziranga National Park

The carcass of a male tiger with bullet wounds was recovered today at the Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve in Assam.

The Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve in Assam has a tiger population of 111, as per a 2017 census. On 18th June, the carcass of a male tiger with bullet wounds was recovered today at the Kaziranga National Park. The age of the tiger is believed to be around 10 years. A brief statement issued by the forest department stated that the tiger was killed in accidental firing by forest guards while trying to scare away the tiger from the public area. Kaziranga national park director P Sivakumar confirmed  the news. This is the third time a tiger’s dead body was recovered from the national park in recent times.

Earlier this month, the carcass of a four-year-old male tiger was found. According to forest officials, the body had many injury marks and they suspected that the tiger died from injuries suffered during a fight with another male tiger. Tigers are an endangered species. Because of deforestation and climate change the number of tigers have reduced in India. The Indian government is trying its best to increase the number of tigers. It is sad that they are dying in such a way.
