Two Held with Fake Disability Certificates

Railway Police Force (RPF) received a tip-off that a person had booked a ticket at Kalyan Station using a fake disability certificate. The ticket was for a train scheduled to leave on 20th March. The RPF placed their officers in that train, who caught two people named Ashok Mahajan, 47, and his son Rajdhar Mahajan, 22.
The RPF arrested them and investigated them. During investigation, Ashok Mahajan who was a store owner in Ulhasnagar, Mumbai said that a regular customer named Wadhwa offered to give him a fake disability certificate. Wadhwa said that it would only cost Rs 5,000. He told Ashok Mahajan that the certificate will give him concessions while travelling in train and a confirmed berth as well. Ashok agreed and told Wadhwa to make a fake Disability certificate for him and his son. Wadhwa kept Rs 500 from this for himself and paid Rs 4,500 to the agents.
The police found that the signature on the certificate was of an orthopaedic surgeon from Thane Civil Hospital.Dr Kailash a civil surgeon at the Thane Civil Hospital said that an orthopaedic surgeon can not issue disability certificates. He said a panel of doctors examines the applicant and then the certificate is signed by the civil surgeon. The doctors have promised to investigate the matter. The police are investigating the doctors roles of the doctors in this racket.
