Two Trains Collide in Punjab on Balasore Accident Anniversary

Two goods trains collided on the Ludhiana-Ambala main track near Madhopur in Sirhind, Punjab at around 3:30 am on 2nd June 2024, exactly 1 year after the tragic Balasore train accident

One year back, 293 people lost their lives & thousands were injured in the Balasore train accident on 2nd June 2023. ISH had released multiple videos on it.

Shockingly, another train accident has occurred in Punjab on the anniversary of the Balasore accident. On 2nd June 2024, 2 goods trains collided on the Ludhiana-Ambala main track near Madhopur in Sirhind, Punjab at around 3:30 am. According to the reports, 1 goods train was stationed on Ludhiana-Ambala main track scheduled to travel to Ropar when another goods train hit it from the back. The collision caused the engine of one of them to flip over to another track and hit a standing passenger train. No casualties have been reported but 2 loco pilots got injured in the process.  The injured loco pilots have been identified as Vikas Kumar and Himanshu Kumar, both residents of Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh. Vikas Kumar suffered injuries to his head and Himanshu Kumar to his back. They were admitted to Sri Fatehgarh Sahib Civil Hospital and were later referred to the Rajindra Hospital in Patiala. Seven trains were canceled and 51 trains were delayed after the accident. Railway officials said restoration work is underway and trains are being diverted through Rajpura, Patiala and Dhuri and some via Chandigarh. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said that he has issued directions to the district administration to provide all possible help. The Railway authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.
