Udaipur Tailor Killers Attacked Outside Jaipur Court

Kanhaiya Lal, 48, was murdered on Tuesday by two men for supporting suspended BJP leader Nupur Sharma. The killers, Riaz Akhtari and Gos Mohammad, filmed the killing. Later, they put out another video in which they bragged about the murder and also threatened to target Prime Minister Narendra Modi & Nupur Sharma. Akhtari and Mohammad were arrested hours after the killing. Two more people, who were allegedly involved in a recce of Kanhaiya's shop and in the alleged conspiracy to kill him, were also arrested later. The four accused were presented at an National Investigation Agency (NIA) court in Jaipur on Saturday 2 July. There were heavy police arrangements on the court premises. The court granted the custody of the killers to the NIA till July 12.

The clothes of one of the four accused were also torn, and several lawyers shouted slogans like "Pakistan Murdabad" and "Kanhaiya ke hatyaron ko fansi do" (give death sentence to Kanhaiya's killers). The police quickly put the accused in a waiting van and averted major injury. Days before his killing, Kanhaiya Lal had told the local police that he had received threats over social media for supporting" BJP leader Nupur Sharma. However the police did not do anything.
This is why the Rajasthan government suspended Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Ashok Meena and 31 officers have been transferred. Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot said that the government will investigate if there was any negligence on the police’s part and strict actions will be taken if any merit is found in the allegations against senior officials.
