UP Engineer Arrested for Abusing 50 Children
CBI arrested a junior engineer working in the irrigation department of the Uttar Pradesh government for the alleged sexual abuse of 50 children.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested a junior engineer working in the irrigation department of the Uttar Pradesh government for the alleged sexual abuse of children. In a period of 10 years the accused allegedly abused about 50 children. They are all aged between 5 -16 years. He allegedly targeted children in Chitrakoot, Madhya Pradesh, Banda, Uttar Pradesh and Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh. He sold the videos and photographs of the children in sexual acts to pedophiles over the internet. He allegedly shared the videos and images nationally and internationally. According to NDTV, the accused has been identified as Rambhawan. He is a resident of Chitrakoot district. He was arrested from the neighboring Banda district and will be taken to the court on Tuesday 17th November. Sources said that CBI will ask for police custody of the accused as they suspect the involvement of others also in the crime.
It is reported that the accused has told the told investigators that he would give children mobile phones and other electronic gadgets as bribes to keep them from speaking out about his activities. During their raids at the accused person’s house, the CBI recovered eight mobile phones, Rs. 8 lakh in cash, and sex toys. A laptop which had many photos and videos of children has also been recovered. According to data released by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), 109 children were sexually abused daily in India in 2018. Uttar Pradesh recorded the second-highest number of child rapes (2,023) in 2018.
