Vaccinated Students to Attend College Soon
The Government of Maharashtra has issued guidelines for the opening up of higher educational institutions. Colleges are also instructed to have inoculation drives for unvaccinated students.
Schools and colleges have been shut across the state of Maharashtra since March 2020. The classes have been online since then.
Recently, schools were given permission to open. Now, Minister of Higher and Technical Education Uday Samant said that, the Maharashtra government is preparing to start physical classes for college students from October 16. Colleges will reopen only for students who have received both doses of vaccine. The same method was followed in Kerala as well
For students who have not yet been vaccinated, the state has asked colleges to start vaccination campaigns. All the teachers and other staff attending colleges also need to be fully vaccinated.
Even though only vaccinated people are allowed, the colleges will reopen with strict precautions like limited crowd, wearing masks, sanitization, and social distancing protocols. Online classes will also continue for students who cannot attend physical classes.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, the reopening will be phase-wise and local administration will have the authority to decide about the reopening of physical colleges in their locality considering the covid-19 situation.
