What Happened in PM Modi’s Meeting with CMs?

India set up a high-level crisis group and, under Narendra Modi, is coordinating with states to ensure energy security, economic stability, and public safety amid global tensions.

Amid rising tensions from the US–Israel–Iran conflict, the Government of India formed a high-level Inter-Ministerial Group on 3 March 2026 to monitor the crisis and its impact on India. The group focuses on LPG supply, crude oil prices, trade issues, and preventing panic over fuel shortages. It is headed by Rajnath Singh, with key members including Amit Shah, Nirmala Sitharaman, and Hardeep Singh Puri.

On 27 March 2026, Narendra Modi chaired a virtual meeting with Chief Ministers and Governors to review preparedness. The government’s priorities include maintaining economic stability, ensuring energy supply, protecting trade, and safeguarding citizens.

States were instructed to ensure uninterrupted supply chains, act against hoarding, set up control rooms, and respond quickly to issues. Special focus was placed on fertilizer availability for the Kharif season, coastal and border states, and the safety of Indians in West Asia.

The Centre emphasized long-term energy strategies such as solar power, biofuels, electric vehicles, and expanding gas infrastructure. Measures like ensuring LPG availability and reducing fuel taxes were also highlighted to manage inflation.

States assured cooperation, confirmed adequate fuel supply, and agreed to prevent panic and misinformation. The meeting concluded with confidence that India can manage the situation effectively through coordinated efforts.
