WhatsApp Group Admin Arrested in Noida

Since the lockdown started there has been a sudden surge of fake news and information being circulated on social media websites. On 2nd April, The police have arrested two people in Noida one shared a coronavirus rumour on a WhatsApp group. One of them is the admin of the WhatsApp group while the other is a member who shared the message.The name of the WhatsApp group was ‘Jai Hind’. 

A police officer was part of the group and he saw the wrong message. This is why he arrested the two persons. In such difficult times we all must be very careful about the messages we share on social media. Wrong information can lead to many problems. Plus we all must not post messages against any religion or community. We need to be united and such messages spread hate. Recently there was a WhatsApp message that went viral on many groups. 

The Whatsapp message said that the group admins are requested to close the group for 2 days as police can take action against the group members and the admin under sections 68, 140 and 188. The message said that if this is not done, the group members will be in big trouble.This message posted on Whatsapp is fake. The Press Information Bureau's Twitter account for Fact-Checking posted that the claim is fake. There has been no advisory or order by the Government that talks about this.

A Whatsapp group cannot be temporarily closed for a few days. One can only delete the group, remove somebody from the group and exit the group.This message is fake. The news about police taking strict against WhatsApp forwards is not fake. So please only share messages that are correct.
