Oscar-winning musician A R Rahman's concert in Pune on 30th April 2023, Saturday was stopped midway by local police. As per Supreme Court rules, Pune City follows a 10 PM deadline for all public events to prevent noise pollution. The singer was performing his last song Chaiyya Chaiyya and didn't realise it was beyond 10 PM. Yes, the Pune cops then barged into his concert as he was singing on the stage. The cop stopped it midway pointing to the 10 pm deadline on his watch.

Now, the musician's fans are slamming the cops, following which #DisrespectofARRahman started trending on Twitter. Pune Police, said, “Rahman was singing his last song and while singing he did not realise that it was already past 10 pm, so our police official who was at the venue went and conveyed to him the deadline to be followed as per the SC guidelines after that he stopped singing.”

On May 1, Rahman took to Twitter and shared a glimpse of his Pune concert. The video shows a cop walking onto the stage asking him to stop the concert. As the police walked onto the stage. A R Rahman then can be heard saying, "I think we went overboard with love and overboard time. That's it. Timing is over. I like this." The video's caption reads, "By the way, we had a rockstar moment too (wink smiley). Did we all just have the “Rockstar” moment on stage yesterday? I think we did! We were overwhelmed by the love of the audience and kept wanting to give more. Pune, thank you once again for such a memorable evening. Here’s a little snippet of our roller coaster ride ;)."

The video is currently going viral on social media. Many of his fans took to Twitter and condemned this act by Pune cops and stated it's disrespect of talent. Event organiser said stopping the show in this manner was disrespectful to Mr Rahman, a composer admired and appreciated the world over, and it could have been done in a "decent manner".

In the comments section, several people reacted to the video and wrote that the situation could have been handled smoothly. A person wrote, “The ending was the saddest. With no offence to anyone, things could have been done with peace and on a lighter note. #ARR you rocked. Love you.” Another fan said, “Indian police is the legal version of an average Indian uncle. They hate fun, they hate couples.”
