Why Are Farmers Protesting Again in Delhi?
After returning back to their hometowns after a year of protests, the farmers are back again in Delhi for protests.
ISH News has released several videos about the farmers protesting in Delhi over the3 farm laws proposed by the government. The protest went on for a year after which the government withdrew the 3 farm laws.

Now again hundreds of farmers from different states started reaching Delhi. A mahapanchayat was called by the Samyukta Kisan Morcha, an association of about 40 farmer associations, at Jantar Mantar, Delhi on 23rd August.
Farmers held protests at Jantar Mantar against unemployment. The mahapanchayat is an event where farmers will reiterate their demands on MSP. Minimum Support Price (MSP) is the price fixed by the Government of India to protect the farmers against excessive fall in price. These farmer organisations have been demanding proper implementation of minimum support price (MSP) for crops. The farmer associations are also demanding the withdrawal of cases registered against the farmers during their year-long protest against the farm laws.
Another demand that the farmer associations have is that Minister Ajay Mishra be dropped from the Union ministry. In the Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh case on October 3 2021, Ajay Mishra’s son ran his SUV into a group of farmers, killing four farmers and a journalist. After this, there was violence in the area and 4 farmers were arrested. Ashish Mishra was arrested and then released on bail. The farmers association also wants four of their colleagues who have been arrested in connection with the Lakhimpur Kheri violence to be released.

Delhi Police beefed up security at various borders of Delhi, including the Singhu border and Ghazipur border. Farmer leaders alleged vehicles carrying protesters were being stopped from entering the city. The police, however, said they had been allowed to proceed after carrying out “due verification”. On 21st August, farmer leader Rakesh Tikait was detained by the police at the Ghazipur border as he tried to enter Delhi to take part in the 'mahapanchayat'. After he was released and sent back, he tweeted that this struggle will continue till the last breath. Won't stop, won't get tired, won't bow down. He alleged that the Delhi police were working at the behest of the centre. Tikait also added that the farmers will back every Chief Minister who fights for the farmers’ issues.
