YouTuber Karl Rock Banned From Entering India

India has restricted entry of Karl Edward Rice, a YouTuber from New Zealand who is better known as Karl Rock, after he was found to be indulged in multiple visa violations that involved his videos.

Karl Edward Rice, is a YouTuber from New Zealand. He is known as Karl Rock because of his YT channel.

Karl is a popular YouTuber with 1.8 million subscribers on his channel. He makes videos about travel, especially in India, and also speaks Hindi. He married an Indian woman named, Manisha Malik in April 2019.

Earlier he was living in India on a Tourist Visa but after his marriage, he got a X2 visa. He left India in October 2020 to travel across Dubai and Pakistan. Karl said, ““When I left through the New Delhi International Airport, they cancelled my visa. They would not tell me why they were cancelling my visa.”Karl claims he sent “multiple emails” to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), and that his wife Manisha even went to the ministry to find a solution, but to no avail.

On July 9, Karl had uploaded a video in which he said, "The government of India has stopped me from returning to India", "separating me from my wife and family". The video has received around 9 lakh views. However, MHA officials said that, “Karl continuously breaks rules. Under X2 visa, foreign nationals are not supposed to indulge in business activity but Karl creates content on YouTube and gets monetary benefit from it. This is not allowed. He published the book, he attended anti-CAA protests, visited restricted areas to foreigners in Nagaland and Jammu & Kashmir without permission and he had also created a video titled “Do Indians eat beef? Guide to eating beef in India” was of particular concern, given it risks disturbing social harmony. This is why his Visa has been canceled and he is not allowed to enter the country. Karl’s wife has now filed a petition in the Delhi High Court requesting that Karl be allowed to enter the country.
