Yuvraj Singh Retires From International Cricket
One of India’s most successful batsman Yuvraj Singh, has announced his decision to retire from International cricket.
Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh announced his decision to retire from all forms of cricket on Monday (June 10). In 2000, he played his first ODI match against Kenya. He has played 40 Test matches, 304 ODIs and 58 T20s. He has had an important role in India's two big victories - the 2007 World T20 and the 2011 World Cup. At a press conference held in Mumbai, the 37-year old cancer survivor said he had a beautiful story and it had to end, the time was right.
Yuvraj was impressive in the U-19 side scoring 203 runs in the U-19 World Cup in 2000. In his second ODI against Australia where he scored 80 runs in 84 balls against the best team in cricket at that time. In T-20 cricket he shined bright. He did the impossible by scoring six sixes in a single over. Nobody in the history of cricket has done this in International Cricket.
In the IPL he played for Kings Eleven Punjab and Mumbai Indians. He was a top draw for teams who paid Rs 14 crore and Rs 16 Crore in two auctions. But his crowning glory was at the 2011 World Cup held in India, where he scored a total 362 runs hitting 4 fifties and a century. He also took 15 wickets. This won him the Man of The Tournament as well as Champions Of The World.
From 2011-2012 Yuvraj had to battle Cancer. He made a full recovery and returning to cricket for the 2012 ICC World Twenty20. He ends his career as one of India’s best batsmen. He has scored over 8500 runs in ODI and taking 111 wickets.
