In today's world of Zomato & Swiggy we all have ordered food online, but have you ever thought that the online food delivery companies are actually charging a lot extra then the original price of the food item? Recently LinkedIn user Rahul Kabra shared an image of a Zomato order list and the offline (bill directly from the hotel) bill of the same order, which had a difference in the total order amount. The orders were from a restaurant – ‘The Momo Factory’ – in Mumbai. Rahul Kabra mentioned that the Cost for offline order was Rs. 512. While the cost of the same food items on Zomato was totalling to Rs. 690. The amount of Rs. 690 was after he applied for a discount of Rs. 75 through a coupon. In such a small order, there was a cost difference of Rs. 178 which is 34.76% Soon after, this picture was shared online and went viral with many people liking and resharing it massively. He also mentioned that the quantity of the food when delivered at home is lesser in comparison to when we order the same food items in the restaurant. Most of the other users seemingly agreed to the allegations made by Rahul. However, after a lot of people tagged the official handles of the food delivery company “Zomato '' online in order to get a response. Zomato took notice of the viral post and responded saying: “Hi Rahul, Zomato being a platform between a customer and a restaurant, Zomato does not have any control over the prices which are decided by the restaurant partners on our platform.” Moreover they have said that the users feedback has been conveyed to the restaurant.
